About Rick

Overview & Experience

Rick is a St. George transplant with a love for religion, family, art, law, outdoors, community, culture, food, music, and people. Having lived in six states and overseas, he loves to travel to new places and meet new people. Ultimately, he and his family are excited to be back in Southern Utah, where they started.

Nice to Meet you!

I am a licensed attorney in Utah and Kansas with experience in adoption, guardianship, conservatorship, probate, estate planning, real estate transfers, water/oil/gas/mineral interests, business entities, trust administration, civil disputes, and recently criminal defense. After several years of living outside of Utah, my family and I returned to Southern Utah prepared to give back to the community where we started.

I have worked in a U.S. senate office, a state government agency, a company serving clients nationwide, a small law firm, and eventually my own solo practice.

I started my legal career in Kansas—where I completed law school. Kansas became a second home for my family, and it was hard to leave. In 2024, I was admitted to practice in Utah, and we returned home to be closer to family.

Prior to law, I studied communication as an undergraduate and was a teacher in a religious seminary. I developed a passion for teaching and working with people directly—which is the core of my legal work.

During law school, I received an award that took me to Washington D.C., where I met with a U.S. Supreme Court Justice. During that trip (and several others to our Nation’s capital), I was inspired by the legal foundation of our freedoms.

I have studied the U.S. Constitution and history, and I believe it is important for each generation to learn, teach, and support the founding values of freedom—including civility, integrity, work, accountability, service, sacrifice, self-discipline, faith, family, respect, charity, and so on—to maintain a free and prosperous society.
